The ConDoc Section Tool instantly creates unlimited perspective and parallel projection section views of your project, with just a click. There are 3 different styles included with ConDoc LT; CAD, Sketch, and Color.
Step 1: Adjust Visibility
ConDoc LT snapshots the current visible layers and hidden objects/geometry, so it is best to adjust these settings before using the Section Tool. In other words, make your model look the way you want it to look in the final Section by hiding unwanted geometry and objects, and turning off layers/tags.
- Click on the "eye" icon next to tags/layers to toggle visibility for your Section .
- Right-click on objects and geometry and choose "Hide" to exclude them from your Section .
Click on the ConDoc Section Tool icon, or on the Extensions dropdown > ConDoc > ConDoc Tools > Section to activate the tool. You will see you cursor change to the ConDoc Section Tool. Place your cursor on the building where you want to cut a section, then click.
Use the arrow keys to lock the tool to an axis before clicking. Right Arrow = Red Axis. Left Arrow = Green Axis. Up Arrow = Blue Axis.
Step 3: Pick a Drawing Type
Immediately after clicking you will be prompted to pick an Section drawing type. Choose a drawing type to create the Section scene.
- There are three style options; CAD, Sketch, and Color
- Section Perspectives will snapshot the current camera position, rather than aligning camera position with the target surface
- Sections have either no shadows, or full shadows casting from the sun position
- Section
The default ConDoc LT drawings, styles, and names can be modified using the ConDoc Configurator
After you choose a drawing type, several automations are triggered.
- A scene is created with all "Properties to Save" checked on
- The scene is named and sequentially lettered
- The camera view is aligned perpendicular to the target wall, set to parallel projection, and saved to the scene
- A style is applied and saved to the scene
- Shadows settings are applied and saved to the scene
- The "CONDOC_2D Graphic" layer is forced off, and any layers that were left on are saved to the scene
- Any visible geometry that was not hidden is saved to the scene
- An active section cut is placed on the click location, there is no offset for sections
You can change the location of a section plane by using the Move Tool. There is no need to update the scene.
At this point you can activate the Section Tool again, then click to add another scene and the sequential numbering will continue. When you are finished, click the DESIGN button to bounce back to a snappy lightweight modeling environment.
Save time by clicking on a ConDoc Section scene that already exists before adding another. This way you won't have to toggle layer visibility and hide geometry/objects again.
