ConDoc 5.4 Is Here: Smarter Drawing Tools, Landscape Workflows, and More
The latest ConDoc release brings a wave of improvements designed to streamline how you work, organize, and document your projects in SketchUp and LayOut. Whether you're creating plans, managing scenes, or designing outdoor environments, ConDoc 5.4 helps you move faster, stay organized, and produce cleaner drawings with less manual effort.
Here’s a look at what’s new.
New Tools for Managing Drawings
Two new tools—Update Drawing Camera and Delete ConDoc Drawings—are now available on the ConDoc Drawings toolbar. Both are designed to save time and eliminate the frustration of managing scenes manually.
With Update Drawing Camera, you can activate any scene from a ConDoc drawing, adjust your view (zoom, pan, orbit), and push that camera angle to every scene tied to the same drawing. It’s a one-click solution to keeping your viewports aligned, without diving into the Scenes dialog or toggling scene properties.
Delete ConDoc Drawings gives you a fast way to remove drawings you no longer need. Just open the dialog, select the drawings you want to delete, and ConDoc removes all related scenes automatically—clean and easy.
These tools make it easier to keep your model tidy and your LayOut drawings consistent, especially in larger projects with multiple drawing sets.
A Full Drawing Set for Landscape Projects
ConDoc 5.4 introduces a dedicated LANDSCAPE drawing set, created specifically for landscape architects, designers, and site planners. It includes all the drawing types you need to go from early concepts to detailed construction documentation, including:
Planting plans
Irrigation layouts
Hardscape and paving plans
Lighting plans
Site sections and grading studies
Feature elevations (playgrounds, fountains, decks, and pools)
3D perspectives for client presentations
Also included is LANDSCAPE_LandShape, a version of the drawing set built for compatibility with Holygon’s Landshape extension. You can now sculpt landforms using Landshape tools and generate clean, usable contour lines directly in your drawings—no exporting, no tracing, no extra work.
To help you get started, we’ve published a fully tagged Plaza model on 3D Warehouse that works seamlessly with the new LANDSCAPE drawing set. It’s a great way to test out the workflow without building your own model from scratch.
Better Graphics and Cleaner Tags in the ARCHITECT Set
The ARCHITECT drawing set has been refined for more control and better visuals, especially when working with context elements and exterior views.
Raster and Vector tags now give you control over what appears in different drawing types, making it easier to separate linework from textured or shaded content
Vegetation displays more consistently across plans, elevations, and perspectives
Tag updates provide clearer naming and better structure:
ELEMENT_Context is now ELEMENT_Buildings
ELEMENT_Earth is now ELEMENT_Terrain
ELEMENT_Hard Surfaces is now ELEMENT_Hardscapes
A new LOCATION_Context tag makes it easy to group surrounding site elements
These improvements make it easier to represent background structures, demolished buildings, and context models without needing to fully tag them with architectural elements.
The result is better-looking drawings, faster setup, and improved consistency across your views.
Smarter Tagging and Plan Generation
Real-world projects don’t always fit neatly into a single level or location, and now your model doesn't have to either.
With multi-tag support, you can assign multiple LEVEL and LOCATION tags to a single object. That means you can:
Tag a tall wall that spans LEVEL_01 and LEVEL_02 without splitting it into two pieces
Assign a chandelier or staircase to multiple LEVEL tags so it shows up on every relevant plan
ConDoc 5.4 also adds logic to the Plan Generator, so it checks for existing scenes before creating new ones. If the scenes are already in place, you’ll be asked whether to recreate or skip them—giving you more control and fewer duplicates to manage.
These updates reduce the workarounds needed to model complex spaces and give you more flexibility without complicating your file.
Updated Vegetation Components and Symbols
Vegetation often plays a key role in your drawings—whether you’re designing a site plan or just adding context to an architectural elevation. ConDoc 5.4 delivers updated vegetation assets to make this easier and cleaner.
The 2D Scrapbook now includes updated symbols for trees and shrubs in both plan and elevation views
A new set of lightweight 3D vegetation components is available for use in your models
Everything is included in the ConDoc LANDSCAPE collection on 3D Warehouse
These graphics are optimized for performance and clarity. The 2D symbols work beautifully in both vector and raster views, while the 3D components are simple enough to keep your model running smoothly.
Although designed for the LANDSCAPE drawing set, these assets work just as well in the ARCHITECT set—ideal for architects who need clean, generic trees that render well in documentation.
Other Updates and Improvements
While most of the changes in 5.4 are under the hood, a few small updates help polish the overall experience:
The ConDoc Tools toolbar has been renamed to ConDoc Drawings to better reflect its purpose
Tool names, descriptions, and tooltips have been updated for clarity
Warning dialogs now feature tighter formatting and more helpful language
Tool behavior and labels have been brought into closer alignment
These refinements reduce friction across the board and make ConDoc easier to learn, teach, and use daily.
